Materiality, the second of a two-part exhibition series curated by BSMT explores the expressive power of materials beyond the traditional language of paint on canvas. Bringing together the work of 21 contemporary artists, the exhibition considers what happens when the physical substance of an artwork becomes as significant as the image, object or idea it carries.
Welcome to my world
I, Perishable Rush, (Netherlands 1975) am a street artist in the broadest sense of the word. I find my inspiration and materials by having a good look around when I'm outside, always on the lookout for a story that needs be told and how that should be done.
I work on different series of artworks; masks, portraits and skull sculptures. In my masks I focus on visualizing my observations of the world we live in. And in my portraits I pay tribute to characters that inspire me, to gamechangers and innovators.
My skulls are more material oriented and show my passion for paint structures found on our city walls.
